Eating For 2

It sure was a great time for me when I was pregnant. It was ok if I had a big tummy, it was supposed to be that way, hehehe I eat what I want (of course, what's good for the baby!), when I want it and DH doesn't even mind!

I got away with ice cream on my first pregnancy but the second time, I had to watch my sugar intake because I was borderline gestational diabetic. Oh, I think, it's because of that big Hershey Bar! (No wonder DD2 is soooo tanned!)

Seriously, eating for 2 is a misconception. You don't really need to eat a lot. Yes, you need the extra calories to help your baby grow but you don't need to add 1000 calories more to your normal diet. The main thing is you have to eat well, lots of greens and meat (for protein).

From experience and hours of reading, here's some of the food/drinks I avoided :

1. peanuts --- the babies will be prone to allergies (asthma and the likes)
2. liver --- too much vitamin A is bad
3. sushi, sashimi --- might salmonella
4. alcohol --- obviously!
5. caffeine --- again, for obvious reasons! but, i craved for coffee all throughout my pregnancy! I had to settle for a daily dose of Milo --- which is I find is good for lactation!

"What To Expect

When You're Expecting..." (by Heidi Murkoff , Arlene Eisenberg , Sandee Hathaway) was the book I kept in handy during my pregnancy.

It reassured, it helped and it walked me through the whole nine months. The format were question and answer type. The questions that you will ask when you're at a certain stage. The answers were informative for first time parents to be, but I assure you, it's worth every penny because I dig it up from the store room as soon as I found out that I am pregnant for the second time.

Tickled Pink

When my DH and I found out that we're having a girl (the first time), I couldn't hide my elation. He wanted a boy, of course. But, a daughter sits well with me. I imagined playing dolls with her, going shopping with her, girl talks, hmmm... It was so exciting!

There was morning sickness. But, I didn't really get very sick. Just nauseaus in the morning but after breakfast everything will be gone. I just feel tired all the time and would just want to close my eyes and sleep. I disliked DH's perfume and "adobo" but I liked apples --- may it be tetra packed apple juice, fresh apple juice that can be bought from the fruit vendor or fresh apple.

I went on as if nothing happened. Haha. Until my tummy got big, I got scared of mrt exits that it may close on my tummy. I put olive oil regularly on my tummy to prevent stretch marks. I drunk lots of vitamins that made #2 a bit hard to perform! Hahaha

That nine months revolved on giving the best to my baby while she's inside me.

And, that included putting the earphones of my discman to my tummy while soothing classical music plays. Or, reading books to her. Or DH teaching her the multiplication table. Funny, isn't it? But, we found out that this could actually stimulate the baby's brain.

We were excited parents-to-be. The first kick was momentous. The baby's hiccups were ticklish. And, the ultrasound photos were treasures.

Oh, what a lovely time that was!

It's A Girl's Thing

Being a mother of 2 cute girls. I want to document and write my thoughts on how I managed to bring them up. I know I may not be able to write something new but this will help me preserve memories.
